Kathleen Corcoran, Psy.D

Dr. Kathleen Corcoran is a licensed clinical psychologist who treats children, adolescents, families, and adults. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Boston College and her Master’s and Doctoral degrees from Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Corcoran completed internship and postdoctoral fellowship in Child/Adolescent treatment at Dartmouth Medical School, Department of Psychiatry in New Hampshire, where she also supervised predoctoral psychology interns. During her time at Dartmouth, Dr. Corcoran received intensive training in evidence-based Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for traumatized children/teens, including treatment of victims of physical, sexual, emotional abuse and neglect. She also received specialized training in the treatment of children 0-6 and their families.
Dr. Corcoran is prescriptively eclectic in theoretical orientation, and draws from a variety of modalities to tailor treatment to the individual client. She believes that a warm therapeutic relationship is critical for psychotherapeutic success, and thus engages in a developmental, relationship-based approach. Specialties include trauma, attachment issues and adoption work, play therapy, anxiety disorders including generalized anxiety, separation anxiety, PTSD, OCD and phobias, adolescent substance abuse, family therapy, treatment of very young children, and social/emotional psychological evaluations. She also provides group therapy for parenting skills, social skills, and anger management for children and teens. In addition to her private practice, Dr. Corcoran has conducted numerous seminars on child mental health topics, and is an adjunct professor of psychology at Kaplan University.
